Dental Insurance
Most dental plans cover routine cleanings with no out-of-pocket expense to the patient. A routine cleaning includes bite wing x-rays and an oral exam by the dentist. Younger patients will also receive a fluoride treatment during a routine cleaning and examination.
Patients who have skipped routine cleanings for some time may require a deep cleaning. This type of cleaning requires multiple visits and is only partially covered by most insurance companies.
Patients are usually required to pay only a small deductible when additional dental procedures are required. Dental insurance will cover anywhere from 50-80 percent on most dental procedures, including fillings, crowns, extractions, bridges, dentures, root canals and fluoride treatments for adults.
Dental Benefits
Like dentists, insurance companies understand that routine cleanings and examinations can reduce or eliminate the need for more costly dental procedures down the road.
Some insurance plans do not cover braces. We can check with your insurance company to see if orthodontic appliances are included in your benefits package. It often depends on the age of the patient and the type of braces recommended by the dentist.
