Medicare dental coverage & other dental plans can cover routine cleanings with no out-of-pocket expense to the patient. A routine cleaning includes bite wing x-rays and an oral exam by the dentist. Patients can also receive fluoride treatments during a routine cleaning and examination.
Patients who have skipped routine cleanings for some time may require a deep cleaning. This type of cleaning requires multiple visits. Patients may pay a small deductible for dental procedures depending on coverage. Dental insurance will cover anywhere from 50-80 percent on most dental procedures, including fillings, crowns, extractions, bridges, dentures, root canals and fluoride treatments.
